Parma

The culinary center of Emilia-Romagna, known for Parma ham and Parmesan, my brief stopover on the way back to Germany.

The Best Food in Parma

Cheese Shop, CPL Parma Consorzio Produttori Latte

On our way home we made a stop in Parma to visit a local cheese shop and stock up on delicious Parmesan for Germany. Besides Parmesan, the shop offered a range of other regional products like pesto and olive oil. Opening hours: Monday 9am to 1pm, Tuesday to Saturday 9am to 7:30pm, closed Sundays.

Tip: If you want to stop at a cheese shop along the way, keep an eye on opening hours and lunch breaks, since most cheese shops only open for limited hours per day and close over lunch. That way you can plan your visit optimally and experience the region's authentic flavors.

The Best Activity in Parma

Cathedral and Baptistery

The cathedral with its famous dome fresco and the baptistery are worth the detour even on a short stop, along with, of course, picking up fresh Parmesan directly from one of the local cheese shops.
