Cebu

Cebu, known as one of the most historic islands in the Philippines, was where the Spanish under Ferdinand Magellan first arrived in 1521. To this day, historic sites like the famous Magellan's Cross bear witness to this significant past. For us, Cebu served mainly as the perfect launchpad for discovering the beauty of the Philippines. Its central location and good connections to other islands like Boracay and Siargao made it the ideal starting point for our adventure. Even though we spent little time there ourselves, the blend of modern infrastructure and historic heritage left a real impression on us.

Where We Stayed on Cebu

bai Hotel Cebu

Great location in the center, €66 for 1 night including breakfast, good value for money. The staff were super friendly and attentive, the hotel itself really lovely, and the breakfast varied and tasty. On top of that, a great gym, even childcare, a rooftop pool and a bar-restaurant combo rounded out the stay perfectly. Handy bonus: a shopping mall with a small evening food market is only about a 3-minute walk away.

Verdict: I can highly recommend the bai Hotel in Cebu and would happily stay again.
