Siargao

Siargao, a dreamy island in the province of Surigao del Norte, is the heart of Philippine surf culture. Located east of Mindanao, the island charms with breathtaking nature, a relaxed atmosphere and the world-famous "Cloud 9" wave, which draws surfers from all over the world. Surrounded by coral reefs and dense mangrove forests, Siargao offers not only perfect conditions for surfers but also a fascinating variety of marine life. Away from the waves, the island invites you to explore and unwind amid untouched nature and the warm hospitality of the locals.

Getting to Siargao

From Boracay, we opted for a flight with a stopover in Cebu, at the time the only way to reach the island. Tickets cost €116 per person and got us to surfer's paradise quickly and easily.

Where We Stayed on Siargao

Trogon's Perch

Located outside the center (General Luna), but easily and cheaply reachable by tuk-tuk or scooter. €327 for 3 nights including breakfast, good value for money. A unique and beautiful location, a wonderfully inviting ambience, very friendly and helpful staff — for us, one of the most beautiful places we stayed on the entire trip.

Verdict: I can highly recommend this place and would happily stay again.
